For sun, palm trees and a pampered tropical lifestyle, Ft. Lauderdale
offers numerous accommodations for getting away from it all. The
resort experience is a Ft. Lauderdale specialty.
Places like Ireland's Inn and Lago Mar Beach Resort are on the
ocean yet sheltered from the hustle-bustle of the central beach.
Farther inland are places like the Wyndham Resort and Spa.
And in addition to several excellent hotels along north beach
(Deerfield, Pompano and Ft. Lauderdale-By-The-Sea) and Galt Ocean
Mile, many charming smaller motels, inns and apartments can be
found in the area between the Intracoastal waterway and A1A west
of the beach, and just off Las Olas west of the waterway in the
Isles section of the city.
Travelers who like quiet elegance within walking distance to
museums, one-of-a-kind shops and fine dining, should check out
the River Inn on the Water, a perfectly maintained gem directly
on the Intracoastal. The 18th Street Inn, a semi-secluded bed
and breakfast in the city's southeast quadrant near the harbor,
is also a good choice for visitors who want to forego the glitz
of more "touristy" accommodations.
