Unless it's off season, staying near the beach can prove pricey
for most budgets. A good rule of thumb is the farther north along
the beach and the smaller the hotel, the more affordable. Another
good bet for the budget traveler: try the hotels and motels that
line U.S. Highway 1 in the north end of town or State Road 7 further
inland. The following digs are a good fit for economy-conscious
travelers: Villas By the Sea; Beach Ball Motel; and Palm Plaza
Hotel.
Very nice rooms and efficiencies can also be had a few minutes
ride south of Ft. Lauderdale in Dania Beach or just north of the
border in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea.
